Consumer Advice
Alitame is a high-intensity sweetener derived from the amino acids aspartic acid and alanine, about 2000 times sweeter than sugar. It is low in calories and stable, and is used in diet drinks, desserts, and candy. It contains no phenylalanine, making it relatively friendly for people with phenylketonuria, but it is not approved in every country, so check local regulations before use.
