Consumer Advice

Erythorbic acid is an isomer of vitamin C (ascorbic acid). It has similar antioxidant power but none of vitamin C's vitamin activity, and is used as an antioxidant and colour stabiliser in meat products, drinks and canned fruit to prevent oxidation and discolouration. Its safety profile is comparable to vitamin C and its authorised uses are endorsed by international bodies.
