Consumer Advice

Konjac gum (konjac glucomannan) is a natural dietary fiber extracted from konjac tubers. It is used as a thickener and gelling agent in konjac jelly, jelly cups, noodles and vegan foods; it absorbs water, forms a gel and increases fullness. It is plant-derived, safe at normal levels and may help bowel regularity. Important: jelly-type products made with konjac can easily block the throat if swallowed whole, so children and older adults in particular should chew thoroughly and never swallow them whole.
