What is it?
Triacetin (glycerol triacetate) is a colourless, odourless oily liquid produced by esterifying glycerol with acetic acid; it is a synthetic additive. It is used mainly as a solvent and plasticiser, and in chewing gum to inhibit microorganisms (antifungal).
