Consumer Advice
Red 2G is a synthetic red azo dye formerly used in meat products such as breakfast sausages. In 2007 the EU banned it outright because of concerns that it could break down in the body into aniline-related substances, and it is not listed in China's standards. It should therefore not be found in legitimate foods today.
