Cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVPP) is the water-insoluble, cross-linked form of PVP used as a clarifying and stabilising agent in beer, wine and juices; it adsorbs polyphenols/tannins to prevent haze and astringency.

Polyvinylpolypyrrolidone (PVPP) is an insoluble polymer used as a clarifying and stabilizing agent in beer and wine production, removing haze-causing polyphenols for a clearer product. Because it is insoluble and filtered out during processing, virtually none remains in the final beverage. As a plant-based fining agent, it is often preferred by vegetarian and halal consumers as an alternative to animal-derived fining agents such as gelatin or isinglass, and it is safe when used according to regulations.
