What is it?
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a water-soluble polymeric family produced by polymerising ethylene oxide, with a wide molecular-weight range; it is a synthetic additive. In food it is used mainly as a defoamer, lubricant and processing aid, and normally does not remain in the final product.
